It came out in 2008 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and in 2009 for Microsoft Windows. Mirror’s Edge is a platform action-adventure game made by DICE and released by Electronic Arts. Depending on the type of game, and the particular services which may no longer be supported, players’ inventory of virtual currency and/or in-game items may continue to be used, whether or not the applicable in-game store is open or disabled, and whether or not the game is still available for sale to new users. In some instances, where the online services for a particular game may no longer be available or supported, the game may still be played and enjoyed offline. That commitment to great gameplay sometimes means that we need to remove outdated features and modes. We are also committed to constantly updating and improving the features and modes to keep in our games to ensure they remain exciting to play for as long as possible. As games are replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the games that have been live for some time dwindles to a level – typically fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles – where it’s no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping the online services for these games up and running. The development teams and operational staff pour their hearts into our games, their features, and modes almost as much as the players, and it is hard to see one retired. The decisions to withdraw particular features or modes of certain EA games, or to retire online services relating to older EA games are never easy.
On EA’s official website, a statement was issued by the company in relation to the subject. On January 19th, 2023, four different online services, including Mirror’s Edge, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, Shank 2, and Gatling Gears, will be taken down permanently.
EA Sports titles such as FIFA, Madden NFL, NBA Live, NHL, and EA Sports UFC are also developed and published by EA.ĮA made a recent statement that they would be discontinuing some online services for older EA games. These games include Battlefield, Need for Speed, The Sims, Medal of Honor, Command & Conquer, Dead Space, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Army of Two, Apex Legends, and Star Wars. Currently, Electronic Arts is responsible for the development and publication of video games based on well-known franchises. The next year, four of Electronic Arts’ online servers would be taken down.ĮA Games has been one of the most successful game producers over the course of many years.
